That means they're random.
But the urn-5 spec says that it shouldn't be a hash code of anything...
Violating that is not setting a good example.

So how do you suggest to map the old ids into URI space?

Map them into new urn-5s and store the mapping somewhere.


ALL cell ids generated anytime? IMHO it doesn't make sense not to have a procedural mapping.

We could have http://gzz.info/2002/old-style-id?<oldid> where <oldid> is the old ID string.

BTW: did you try
        make urn

yet?
