AFAIK, the server makes no attempt to verify or constrain most of
the data - the only constrained variable data is the distro name
(which i have argued is a relatively insignificant factor) - as
the general purpose of the database is to decide one simple
question: "does this hardware work, using only free software?",
the only truly significant factor is the kernel module in use;
but that is a free text entry, which (AFAIK) accepts an
arbitrary string

only if later, some other user notices an incorrect or spam
entry, that user may edit the entry - it is essentially a wiki,
except that wikis normally have moderators who review
submissions - AFAIK, the only submissions which were/are
moderated or reviewed necessarily, are the anonymous submissions

in addition to more reliable data, i expect that the client
would increase participation as a secondary benefit; because it
actually lowers that bar - using the GUI client, no one needs to
use the command line or copy/paste any data - the user only needs
to click a few mouse buttons to collect and submit valuable
results
