[Health-dev] GNU Health medication / drug database design for ambulatory

Hello Luis and GNU Health team

Just one more issue regarding the prescribing
of medicines via GNU Health :-) :-)

The GNU Health drug database table should
be designed to hold the "concentration" of the medication product.

This will
be needed when prescribing complex medicine regimens in hospitals.

If the
software "knows" that an insulin vial contains 100 units of insulin in each 1
ml then when the doctor prescribes "20 units" for the patient, the software can
advise the nurse to inject "0.2 ml".

See attached spreadsheet for illustration
of possible database table structure.

This idea can be complicated for some
medication products but it is well worth doing for the advanced prescribing
functionality which will be available for hospital doctors/clinicians.

Regards

Andrew
