Hi Odicha!
I am implementing GNU Health at Center of Medical Rehabilitation,Vientiane,Laos as Pilot Project with the aim of using the software across the country if this project goes well at this hospital and accepted by the ministry of health. The time line is June 2014, all must be done by then. However, we stuck in Lao Unicode shown as square shape everywhere in windows workstation but not in ubuntu desktop. As you know it is very hard to get rid of 30 laptops and PC with Win OS installed. Now the nurse who register patients are doing very well in Lao Language, but the Dr. are struggling in Square Characters.I really appreciate if you can help us to overcome this major headache in a near future.

Thanks.

Sorry for delay.
Jungle illness this week :( (every time I'm back)
ASAP I'll build a test client. I think two or three days. Not more. I have solved before some issue in other pythonwin app (japanese garbled) so I think I know where the bug is(gtk all in one compilation is not unicode capable, so it makes tryton client not unicode capable) This is really not Health related.

Best Regards.

Hi Odicha!
Regarding Lao Unicode font issue displaying on windows 7 or 8,the Thai Unicode font is not working either, Anousak have tested Thai using Tahoma font family, Thai shows up. However when he tried UNICODE based for Thai it doesn't work. For Lao, both ASCII and UNICODE do not work at all, it shows up as squares/boxes So, we and Luis whom is here with us, suspected that we would need to work on UNICODE for ASIAN complex such as for Lao, Thai, Cambodian and perhaps Mynamar as well. We really need to get Lao working on Tryton client on Windows 7 or 8. Please let us know what kind of information you need from us in order for you to perform a test for Lao especially. Thank you very much.

windows client relies on some precompiled packages. Not sure but I think pygtk-allinone is not unicode, so it'll fail

Time to make tests :)
Just a quick update.

I tested the GNU Health Lao translation package for the health core
module and it worked fine, at least I can see the strings in menus and
forms. Of course, using GNU/Linux .

Thanks a lot Odicha for testing !!

Best

Hi all,

We are testing Tryton Windows Client version now and we found that Thai
is working fine which is using Tahoma font. However Lao is UNICODE based
font thus it is not working, it shows square boxes instead I was
wondering if we would need to include a statement in the Tryton client
app for Windows to use Lao UNICODE.

Thanks a lot for reporting ! We will look at it and ask the Tryton
community about this issue in the Windows client.

If I am not mistaken, it the Lao language displays well on a GNU/Linux
client.

We'll get back to you soon.

All the
best,
Does anyone have any experience or similar issue with UNICODE in
Windows? Please share. Thanks
