Where is MetaTool/Stage?

The book, "Program Generators with XML and JAVA", Prentice-Hall, 2001,
page 348, "Further Reading", mentions yacc and:

"Another UNIX tool, called Stage and later renamed MetaTool, provides a
more complete solution to building program generators. Its input includes
a grammatical description (which is used to generate a lex file, a yacc
file, and parse tree construction and navigation code) and
product-description files, which are templates of the desired output of
the program generator."

Would anyone know where to find MetaTool or any equivalents/successors or
whatever became of them?
