Hi Karl,
At the Guix project (which also uses Debbugs), we have mumi[1], an
alternative web frontend to Debbugs. mumi has its own xapian[2] index,
and searches work regardless of the archived/unarchived status of
issues. The quality of the search results is also much better in
general. You can check out the Guix instance of mumi at
https://issues.guix.gnu.org/ . We don't index the automake and
automake-patches packages, but that can probably be arranged if there is
interest.
