[Help-glpk] undefined reference to __getreent()?

I have tried reinstalling cygwin and gcc.  When I try to compile

gcc sample.c -lm -lglpk 

(it is finding glpk this time)

I get:
undefined reference to __getreent (several times)
undefined reference to imp__ctype 

I also tried installing qsopt from 
http://www2.isye.gatech.edu/~wcook/qsopt/lib/C/lib.htm

But I still get those undefined reference to __getreent errors.
also an undefined refence to __alloca


I thought it might help to go to koders.com -- but there are several 
getreent.c's -- are any of them what I'm looking for?

Yeah, I know this is a kludge but it's my last gasp effort....
