How config pos of mouse middle button paste? (some function of pointer & cursor pos)

Linux/Unix fans always hightlight text and paste with
middle mouse button.  In Emacs the location of the
paste is some algorithm involving pointer position
and cursor position.  Is it possible to adjust the
settings for this?..

The behavior is not like in other programs.
