I use bs-cycle-next and bs-cycle-previous, bound
thusly:
(global-set-key "\M-n" 'bs-cycle-next)
(global-set-key "\M-p" 'bs-cycle-previous)
from bs.el which is part of emacs (at least cvs-emacs).
