Thanks, Bastien.  I guess I should have asked just this question 
first... could have saved myself a lot of time.

I don't know what org-mode is supposed to help me (or anyone else) 
accomplish.  So it's not actually useful to me at this point for 
anything that I know of.  Perhaps in future....
