Following up myself, I missed to insert this one as well:

  (defcustom cdlatex-takeover-dollar t
    "Non-nil means, cdlatex is allowed to take over the $.
  This means it will redefine the `$' keys."
    :group 'cdlatex-miscellaneous-configurations
    :type '(boolean))
