installation parenthesis problem

Help:

I installed lilypond on my Redhat 7.1 machine.  When I issue the command

ly2dvi -P filename

where the contents of filename are

 

/score {

   /notes { c'4 e' d' }

}

lilypond complains that the parenthesis don't match.

 

Any suggestions?
