Can some help me what could be the problem.
  I am configuring Compaq nx6115(AMD Turion64) notebook with Ubuntu 9.04


It looks like you don't have a C/C++ compiler installed.

Using the graphical package manager, or apt-get, install gcc, g++, and related development packages.
