Any good reason for such behaviour?

I switched BIOS settings to 'EFI only' (but with 'EFI first' it works
the same) and during start clicked Enter and F12 to select boot device.
There, I have chosen the CD-ROM drive. No special EFI boot menu entry
for this image (/EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI is started from the 'efiboot.img').

The same CD can be booted in 'legacy BIOS' mode – the
'boot/isolinux/isolinux.bin' image is used in that case.

Anyway, I am going to try the hybrid ISO-GPT image made with xorriso.

Greets,
        Jacek
