This section should read:

  qemu-system-x86_64 -m 1024 -smp 1 \
    -net user -net nic,model=virtio -boot menu=on \
    -drive file=guixsd.img \
    -drive address@hidden@var{system}

(It’s a typo in the manual fixed in commit

However, you really need networking support in the VM to install GuixSD.
