/dev/hda5 in Linux means the fifth partition (counted from one) of the
first (IDE) harddisk (counted from one). GRUB counts harddisks and
partitions from zero. So in GRUB notation, it would be '(hd0,4)', not
'(hd1,0)', which refers to the first partition on the second harddisk.

Hurd counts harddisk from zero, but partitions from one. So, this
should be 'hd0s5'.

So, it found the kernel on 'root=(hd1,0)'? I thought, you had Hurd
installed on /dev/hda5 (root=(hd0,4))... Or, was it a typo?
