streamio exists. libchannel should be to character streams what libstore is
to block oriented data media. The idea was to have loadable modules to
provide the necessary ioctls etc for a device (as character devices usually
live and die not with their basic function of reading and writing data, but
the additional interface that controls the behvaiour and data stream).
