You can't install the Hurd on a GNU/Linux distribution, just as you
can't install a FreeBSD or whatever kernel that way -- you need a
GNU/Hurd distribution.
Debian is presently the only one to provide such a GNU/Hurd
distribution.
(Though there is an Arch port in progress right now :-) )
