Errors in make

[S ts]

Hi,
I downloaded the latest version of emacs( 21.4). It compiles file for my system. 
Configured for `i686-pc-linux-gnu'.

When I run the make file it gives 2 errors.

Wrote /root/emacs-21.4/lib-src/fns-21.4.1.el
Dumping under names emacs and emacs-21.4.1
make[1]: *** [emacs] Segmentation fault
make[1]: *** Deleting file `emacs'
make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/emacs-21.4/src'
make: *** [src] Error 2

I am new to linux and I am not sure how to proceed and am not sure where to ask my question. Any help will be appreciated.
