Main reason not to would be the total rebuilding of the library every
time, even if only 1 object file had changed. Right now, I use a rule of


(%.o) : $(OBJ_DIR)/%.o
        @ar $(ARFLAGS) $@ $<

Where ARFLAGS starts as -csr.
