How do we build the intermediate source files.

Assembly code .s is converted to .is format before .o file is generated.

How to write make file for this? I tried writting the below code, but it
doesn't work.

Object files are listed in a seperate files and included in the make file.
.c files works fine.I am unable to
compile the intermediate file properly.

        $(CC) -c $< -o $(OBJDIR)/$@ -via b.txt

$(OBJ1):%.o:%.s $(OBJ2)
        $(AS) $< -o $(OBJDIR)/$@ -via b1.txt

        $(CPP) -E $< >$(OBJDIR)/$@ -via b.txt

What is going wrong here?
Any suggestions ?
