Not a problem using mkdir -p :

$ mkdir -p a/b/c
$ mkdir -p a/b/c
$ mkdir -p a/b/c

On Windows:

$ if not exist a\b\c md a\b\c
$ if not exist a\b\c md a\b\c
$ if not exist a\b\c md a\b\c

Maybe less clean, but effectively the same thing.
