Again, thanks for the info.  I think that version of glibc may have the
same problem (given that the patches originally causing the problem were
originally made against 2.3.3, as shown in the second link I gave you),
but I'm not sure.  I've looked up the changelog for Suse's glibc RPM,
and the entries are so terse that they're no help in determining exactly
when the problem was fixed; the closest I can come is sometime between
2005 and 2006.
