hi, if you first save your data into a file, you can then use graw()
to send arbitrary strings to the underlying gnuplot process.  Here is
an example I gave last week on this list:

  d = rand(20,1);
  plot(d);  #raw version
  save -ascii '/tmp/d' d;
  graw("plot '/tmp/d'  smooth csplines\n")  #smoothed version
