Not completely true. You can configure fink to use the "unstable"
gnuplot. I have been using all unstable installs, without significant
problems, but I'm not really working these things that hard. Info on how
to do this is on the fink web site. Essentially, you edit the fink.conf
file and make the Trees: line read
Trees: local/main unstable/main unstable/crypto unstable/bootstrap
stable/main stable/crypto stable/bootstrap local/bootstrap
(all one line).
You may have to do a fink selfupdate to see the updated packages
available. On the web site, they discuss how to do this for a single
package.
