Version 2.1.50 is included in the directory at:
ftp://ftp.octave.org/pub/octave/bleeding-edge
The text of the link at http://www.octave.org/download.html is out of
date (patch attached), but it still points to the right place.
To find the earliest version that included this feature, you could
perhaps look through the changelog at:
http://www.octave.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/octave/ChangeLog
however I generally find it better to keep up with the latest version of
Octave. The quality control that jwe applies is sufficiently high that I
have never encountered a serious degradation of reliability after
upgrading and to use an earlier version means that you encounter bugs
that have been fixed in later versions. It also means that any bug
reports you make are less useful of course!
