OK, then I am out of ideas.  Someone who has access to a system where
there is a problem will have to debug it.

I had a similar issue with glob on Solaris, and I end up deleting
glob/ directory from octave tree and deleting all references
to it in octMakefile.in and Makeconf.in.

It might be not the best solution, but it's worked.
