There were two bugs that I filled against gcc4 -- gfortran cannot handle multiple ENTRY in fortrnan programs [1]. Another -- g++ have ICE compiling some of the Array*.cc files [2]. I think both was fixed in gcc-4.0.0-2 rpms, but since corresponding gcc4 for FC3As I said, the ENTRY problem is fixed in cvs - it is likely that all the gfortran fixes will be applied to release 4.0.1 because it is still regarded as being a beta version.(or RHEL4) is not yet available, I cannot check it.
It should be remembered that gcc-4.x is a big step because of the the introduction of tree-ssa and the problem of lack of support for g77. The ramifications for the likes of octave are likely to be felt for a while yet. It is highly encouraging that some successful builds are being reported.
