I am teaching a junior-level engineering course using Octave, and my
students have installed Octave on their (mostly) Windows machines.
A number of them are reporting a problem with the Octave display on
Windows machines. It seems that a vertical line character (i.e., |) is
placed between each of the characters displayed. Functionality does not
seem impaired, but the display is difficult to read.
A brief poll indiated that most of the affected students had Dell
machines, which makes me think that it may be related to a specific brand
or model of video adapter.
Two questions:
1. Has anyone else experienced this?
2. Any suggestions concerning a fix?
TIA.
