Do we not have a list for announcements of new Octave releases? I'm
not sure if I missed it, but it seemed like the new version 2.1.72 was
not announced, but when people started to write comments about it I
figured it out.
The announcements are sent to the octave-maintainers list (see
http://www.octave.org/mailing-lists/octave-maintainers/2005/947).
According to the mailing list archives page on octave.org, there is an
"info" list. The page says the following about it:
"Announcements about new releases of Octave and other news.
"All postings to info-octave are also sent to the help-octave mailing
list, so you don't need to subscribe to both info-octave and help-octave."
However, I've never seen new releases announced on the help list, so I'm
wondering if this list still exists or is used at all. Maybe new release
announcements should be sent to both the maintainers and help lists.
