  Hi All,

in order to accurately update the FAQ, I'd like to do the following
survey:
1) What operating system do you use octave on?

debian running on colinux running on winxp with the cygwin x-server

I find this way vastly superior to using cygwin. colinux is much faster in all file system related tasks which means compilations run at normal speed as compared to the factor 2-5 slowup in cygwin. Plus you get a good distro (debian or gentoo) with all the latest tools and packages.

Graphics are displayed using X over a virtual network connection.

2) Was octave compiled on your own machine?

   a) If yes, what compiler was used?

In particular, did anyone use anything else than GCC?

   b) Else, where does the binary come from?

In particular, anything else than Debian, Suse, RedHat, MacOsX,
      Windows+Cygwin from Sourceforge?

2.1.73 from debian

TIA,

  Etienne
