Neato! I was getting some warnings about deprecated VTK functions a
few days ago. I trust those are fixed? I'll check it out, thanks (and
I hope the Debian maintainer(s) package it soon too).

You may still experience those warnings, but they probably do not affect function. Some of the scripts (.m files) need to be modified to come up-to-date with vtk-5. I'll try to get to it soon and will make another release.
