Using a 733 mhz computer running Cygwin on Windows 2000, I was actually able
to compile
Octave 2.1.73 (last know stable from octave.org) in about 3 hours or so....
Cygwin was 450mb (tried to install only what was needed)
Octave from ./configure to after 'make' finished consumed 824mb of hard
drive space!
Apparently mkoctave utility actually works as expected now.
Whats the differences between the
'make install'
and
'octave-install'
?
thanks.
