Hi all, recently free optimization framework openopt v 0.21 (BSD license) has been released:
http://openopt.blogspot.com/2008/12/openopt-release-021.htmlSome initial versions were MATLAB/Octave written, but then because of some reasons it had been rewritten to Python.
Still Octave users can use it, for example, from SAGE (http://sagemath.org), also, IIRC, there are some other tools for sticking Python and MATLAB/Octave code
https://launchpad.net/pytave http://pymat.sourceforge.net/ http://mlabwrap.sourceforge.net/Let me also invite you to the numerical optimization forum at openopt.org: http://forum.openopt.org
Regards, Dmitrey
