That's a statement you shouldn't make on a mailing list devoted
to a GNU project, where most developers (and probably most
users too) do *not* use Windows :-)

The "Text version" as you call it is simply a text editor, with some
syntax highlighting predefined for m-code. You can also directly
edit a file from the octave prompt by using the "edit" command.
But that's all you can expect from it. It is not an integrated octave
environment.
