With the latest svn release and GiNaC 1.5.8, you say? After first
calling x = sym("x") ?

I scrutinised the ctors and ctors for GiNaC and didn't find any
obvious sources of UB. I also don't have access to a Mac OS X machine
to test this. Could you put me in contact with the person observing
this behaviour?
