Subject: [Ghm-discuss] HPC and Free Software
Dear all,

I intend to give an speech (or discuss with some of you) during the GHM
in Paris about the use of free software for high performance computing,
associated problems of performance against propietary solutions
(compilers, etc.) and related issues.

Moreover I am organizing a workshop of two/three days in my university
in Ourense (Spain) for the first week of October about HPC and Free
Software. We have now confirmed speakers from HP, SGI, CESGA (one of the
largest supercomputing centres in Europe) and the Msc Program in HPC
from the University of Coruña. Also I have asked to the Karsten from the
FSFE to suggest and introductory talk.

I am looking for interesting contributions from academy, enterprise or
free software projects. So if you have an interesting presentation or
speech relevant for the topic of the workshop or know about somebody,
just let me know. I have secured funding for this activity and at least
we would cover all your travel expenses and meals. If we keep some money
after paying all the expenses, we could pay a small quantity (200 € for
example) to the speaker or donate it to the free software project that
he/her chose.

Apologizes for using the ghm-discuss list for this purpose but I think
that it could be interesting for some of you.

Regards,
Juan.
