Yep, sorry for this.

I fixed it quite a while ago in svn.

Please grab oct2xls.m from svn:

http://octave.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/octave/trunk/octave-forge/main/io/inst/oct2xls.m?view=log

and put it in place of <your octave
directory>/share/octave/packages/io-1.0.15
