I believe it will work, but on the other hand, one thing does not 
exclude the other, i.e., I can still make a donation from own hand (not 
2K€! ;-) ) during this fiscal year and deduce it from the taxes next 
year (even if my institutional contribution works). Actually I can only 
suggest to put all this information in octave's donation webpage 
(https://my.fsf.org/donate/working-together/octave): A) Donations can be 
deducible from taxes in Germany if you contribute to the ffis e.V. 
(can't they actually be deducible from taxes in the USA or Canada?) ; B) 
An institution or company can contribute by buying support services or 
licenses...

It makes a big difference if you can get the contribution back from 
taxes... more money will flow...
