Howdy. I also had trouble with the default fragment count/size settings with my
YMF744B that I have on my laptop, thats why I added the options to specify them
to the iiwusynth shell as well as made the ALSA code "auto detection" better. I
can get 3 fragments of 236 sample buffers (3 fragments * 236 frames = 708
frames, 708/44100 ~ 16 ms, haven't measured it as directly as you have
though :). I'm using ALSA 0.9.0beta10. I don't recall if you mentioned what
drivers you are using. If you aren't using ALSA you probably should be :)
