It is for the server side.

If the server has a different name, or the directory structure isn't
exactly the same, everyone will have to recheck out their code with a
different -d CVSROOT option.  If there are not check in changes, they may
want to save the old checked out stuff to be sure to catch it.  Err.. I
guess the different name is only important if using CVS server.

You may catch the usuall problem with PATH or permissions problems that you
often get with moving things like this (standard OS moving problems), so
you may have some fall out, but that's usually not CVS related.

Suggest compiling as non-root as a matter of course, for any package.  Only
thing that should ever be done as root is "make install" (in general).
