That message means that you didn't compile with GSSAPI enabled.  Is
HAVE_GSSAPI defined in you config.h?  What OS are you running on?  What
version of CVS are you using?

I recently rewrote the configure code to better handle GSSAPI.  Are you
willing to test it?
