Thank you very much. That cleared it up.

Since I have a :pserver setup, under which all processes run
as system user "cvs" and the entire repository is owned by user "cvs,"
I probably should NOT use LockDir. Would you agree? Not that it's bad --
there's just no real advantage (unless setting LockDir prevents CVS
from locking on a by-directory basis).
