Your not trying to use the same file name with a different case are you?
(That's normally when I've received that error message before; when
connecting to linux from NT via samba.)   If you try to rename "BOB" to
"BoB", NT (or maybe it's samba) gets confused because both file names are
the same in the DOS/NT (the non-case-sensitive world).  This may not be the
issue at all.

Why not use a pserver, and go that way?  I'm currently using that setup, and
NT and Linux clients seem to be working fine.  (There is something funny
with WinCVS 1.2 and binary files.... but I'm probably just doing something
wrong... I really haven't looked into that much.)
