        I think there's really no point comparing ClearCase to
        CVS since they exist in mostly non-overlapping niches
        in the SCM space.  CVS is an extemely simple tool that
        will cause headaches when (mis)used in the wrong
        space.  ClearCase is an extremely bloated tool that
        will waste a lot of money if used in the wrong space.


        [Fernando Gomes]  I have installed CVS and played with it a bit,
also a bit with Visual Sorce Safe, but this discussion interests me a lot. I
have to choose in the near future a platform like this. You say they are
used in non-overlapping niches in the SCM space. Can you clarify the scope
of this niches? Where ClearCase fits better, where CVS fitts better, where
VSS fits better, where any other tool fits better
