Do you want to commit to the branch, or to the main trunk?
If to the trunk, use update -A, then commit.
In this case your local files will be merged with the main trunk.
If to the branch, use update -r branch, then commit.
In this case your local files will be merged with the branch.
See the info node "accessing branches".
Make a backup, and experiment!
