Thanks, I'll see if this will jibe with our current setup.
Basically what you're saying is that the only purpose of the 'branch ' is
to store that
set of versions that are ready for (or already in) Test, Staging, Prod.  No
development will
ever occur in a branch.  In fact, it's not really a merge from branch to
branch, but a 'replace'.

The question I have is, when a developer wants to 'promote' from the dev
group
to the 'Test' group, he must merge into the Test branch, right?
