In addition to the other suggestions you have received. You may also
want to look at:

and
<http://www.cenqua.com/fisheye/> (commercial)
I have played around with both and they have some interesting
features. Based on your description, I think StatCVS is a closer fit,
but FishEye is oh, so shiny.
