Taking a backup of just the deltas makes no sense whatsoever. What
possible use could it be to back up the delta? Where and how would you
restore it?

Exactly what is your concern? Are you concerned about disk space? Are
you concerned about backups taking too long?

These are not idle questions: I have found that in the majority of
cases, when someone asks how to do something unusual, they have an
ultimate goal in mind, which they have not revealed. Usually, what they
are ultimately trying to achieve can easily be accomplished by taking a
different approach.

With that in mind: please explain your ultimate goal: why do you want to
back up just the deltas? What benefits do you think you will gain from
doing this?
