Well, mostly because we have 60,000+ files in about 40 repositories, and
I really wanted to avoid the overhead of checking out everything. Also,
I'd really like to know why it doesn't work, since it seems to me that
it should, which means that I'm either misunderstanding something basic
(something I *should* know) or that something else is wrong.
